Yesterday Starbucks hosted the bloggers for a little fun evening at the Starbucks Training Room in Al-Shaya’a Head quarters. I loved the idea of a training room that simulates a Starbucks store and is used to try out any new changes or for training new baristas.
Fellow blogger Mubarak from Hi Kuwait smiling for the camera 🙂
After all the bloggers arrived we received a warm welcome from Matthew Holgate, Vice President of Starbucks Middle East. He talked about coffee as a passion and got everyone interested. Below he is teaching us the art of sipping the coffee. Of course you don’t take a sip before smelling the coffee first and feeling its aroma. Lesson learned 😉
We were also introduced to their new Blonde Roast. A type of coffee that has a lighter body than their usual others. Order the new Veranda Blend to try it out.
Moving on to behind the counter. Where we watched how baristas prepare a latte and then learned how to do that ourselves.
From now on the latte will be having a thicker foam with cute little designs.
Here’s me preparing my first Starbucks latte. Thanks to Habbat Q8ya for taking photos when my hands were busy 🙂
The silver pot I’m holding in the picture was designed by Starbucks themselves and in the process of being patented.Very impressive.
And voila! They said it was a perfect latte tihihii :$
After we were done preparing lattes we were taken to the aroma lab. There were 3 types of coffee from different parts of the world, each type accompanied by the local plants that grow around the coffee tree, making it smell the way it does.
The Latin American coffee, specifically from Guatemala and Antigua. A medium coffee.
Asian Pacific coffee, from Sumatra. A dark coffee.
Africa Arabia Coffee, from Kenya. Another medium coffee.
There was a little activity where we had to smell the coffee and each of the plates from its region to see what it smells like the most. I tried it with the Kenya coffee and felt it smelled mostly like strawberries 😛
By the way, the option to order any specific coffee type from the above is possible at any Starbucks.
I would like to thank everyone from the Starbucks team for their great hospitality. You made everyone feel at home. Special thanks to Mr. Matthew, Kerry, Rana, Rawan, and Faisal 🙂
