Sahoud mall is Salmiya’s latest upcoming mall to be built on Salem Al-Mubarak street. As I was passing by I noticed these two images on the project’s fencing; a man riding a snow sled and some penguins, giving the impression of having something similar to Ski Dubai.
The mall is due to finish in 2014 which means, in Kuwait’s construction time, might extend a couple more years. But let’s hope not.
As for the design, it seems to be lacking character for me. The designers cramped too many ideas in it, forming a big mess. But I’m still having a hard time deciding whether this is a case of bad design or just some bad renderings. Because I really cannot see the details of the design, but a bunch of blinding lights instead. What we can’t argue about is that once finished, ugly or not, the mall is destined to become a landmark. So we will wait and see.
