Forbes Middle East has published a list of the Top 100 Powerful Companies in the Middle East . So I filtered the results according to country, and was able to get the list of most powerful companies in Kuwait. Glad to see that both my bank (NBK) and my telecom company (Zain) are at the top.
(The number on the right column is the company’s rank in the Middle East, not in Kuwait)
BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 Now Out

I posted about the Blackberry conference that took place in Kuwait a while ago and the Blackberry Playbook OS 2.0 was one of the evening’s main highlights. Now the wait is finally over and the new OS 2.0 is available for your tablet. It includes the following new features:
- Integrated email client with a powerful unified inbox
- Social Integration with Calendar and Contacts apps
- Updated BlackBerry Bridge app
- Improved mobile productivity
- New apps and content – including a range of Android® apps
To update, just look out for the “Update” notification that will appear on your notification bar, or hit the Gear icon on the upper right corner > Software updates > Check for updates.

National Geographic has published a set of some incredible photographs titled “Seas of Arabia” and every photograph was taken in the waters of an Arab country. It makes me wish there were more documentaries or similar photographs of the marine life here. We are missing out on a lot that goes down there.

A sea snake. Apparently these are found in shallow waters of the Arabian Gulf. Did you read that well? Shallow waters.. Arabian gulf? Kuwait fits the description! I’m glad I never saw one! I can barely overcome my worries and swim in the sea during summer. I can’t have fun when I can’t see my feet!

These birds are Comrorants (spotted in Kuwait not so long ago) finding a resting spot in Oman’s Musandam Peninsula.

The New Kuwait University Model School

The KU Model School is a part of the upcoming Sabah Al-Salem Universty City. The school will provide education to students from KG level to 12th grade. Even to some of the Kuwait University students.
Designed by Perkins+Will. The new school will have green roofs, gardens, labs, and other Eco-friendly features. It was designed this way to encourage students to pay more attention to the environment.
Sounds too good to come true. If the school ever turned out like the pictures I still doubt the green areas will be getting enough maintenance and will end up to be patches of soil and yellow grass. But we never know. It might actually turn out great. So I will stay optimistic and hope it will.

Saturday 17 Feb 2012. Kuwait is expected in the daytime on Saturday to witness a wave of cold winds that will carry a wave of dust, sight will be limited to horizontal. With temperatures dropping in the evening and improving at night.
